Addressing the Cause, Not Just the Symptoms
Correcting spinal dysfunctions is essential to addressing the root cause of your pain. Misalignments can result in headaches, chronic neck and back pain, and shoulder pain. Find out more about the various issues chiropractic care can help with..
How Does It Work?
Many clients feel immediate relief after a chiropractic correction. Movements that were previously restricted, like turning your head, often become easier, and muscle stiffness reduced noticeably.
For those with chronic pain, lasting relief requires patience. One correction won't eliminate years of discomfort. Multiple adjustments over several visits are necessary. Your brain needs to adapt to new movement patterns and maintain control in this corrected alignment. Therefore, an intensive initial phase is recommended for significant complaints, transitioning into an adaptive care phase.

THREE PHASES
Typical chiropractic journey
After initial contact, most clients will follow a phased journey to improved spinal health and well-being. This is typical of most of our patients, but we'll always tailor your care plan to your specific needs.
Intake Phase
We follow a systematic, thorough approach to your clinical experience with us. We do not cut corners as it is paramount that you receive the right intervention at the right time for the right purpose. As such, you can expect that your intake will begin with us discussing your symptoms in detail and performing a detailed physical examination, including scans of the spine and nervous system.
We also look at your posture and muscle tone. After the examination, we will let you know if you are a candidate for chiropractic care or not. We will review the results of your intake together through a report of findings and we will recommend a plan for your care. Once you have decided if you would like to proceed with chiropractic care, you will receive your first chiropractic correction. Prior to your first correction, we will obtain your informed consent. The first correction is often quite a relief after which you will experience improved freedom of movement. Then, we will work with you to develop your schedule of care.
Intensive Phase
We will usually recommend an intensive start-up phase. Whether you suffer from many symptoms or not, we think it is important that your central nervous system relearns how to maintain proper control of your body. When there is too much time between the first corrections, it is more difficult to build this memory and good habit, which is why we recommend this phase.
Once your spine gets used to the new alignment and your nervous system learns to stay in better balance, we can move to a decreased frequency of checks.
Maintenance Phase
Usually, after the intensive phase, it is enough for clients to return for less frequent neurospinal checks. Some can wait up to a month, while others will do better with weekly visits on an ongoing basis. While some call this “maintenance” care, we prefer for you to think of it as “adaptive” care. This is because your life and stressors around you are constantly changing. Some months you may be stress-free, some months your nervious system may need some extra help. Due to everyday stresses of life, we all get “stuck” on a regular basis, which this phase helps with. Some people like to come more or less often.
What works for you is very personal—we will work together to find out what works well for you.
